Project Purge

Tonight, while the family is gone to DND night, I will be commencing with a rip out, no holds barred decluttering mission. My first area to attack is the computer/music room/Dave’s office. I’m pretty sure a bomb went off in there. It’s the room everything gets thrown into when we don’t have a place for it or when we are doing a quickie clean-up in the case of surprise company. It has become home to musical equipment, books, important paperwork, crafting supplies, weapons, pictures, and lord knows what else. I have been debating about whether or not to take before and after pictures, but the before may be a little too embarrassing for me. I’m envisioning 3 boxes: Save, Toss, and Donate. I hope the brutal side in me comes out and squashes the pack rat tendencies I inherited from my father. I’ve even put a few books on hold at the library on organization, motivation, and cutting the clutter from your life. My main inspiration in this mission was when I ran across Miss Violet’s photos for Mission Possible on her Flickr. A few months ago I had went through my crafting stash and cut a lot of crap that I don’t need anymore. I had planned on selling it on craigslist or ebay. So far none of it has sold on craigslist, so it’s still taking up room. I should have a garage sale, but I don’t have enough stuff to really warrant a decent one. I probably will only have the stamina to attack one room tonight. Hopefully I emerge clutter-free. Ok, maybe clutter-reduced is a more reasonable goal.
