It's true, really good bargains almost always lead you into spending more money. Like those fabulous new sandals you got at 50% off? You know you will have to buy a new outfit to match them. Last week I came across a drum carder for an insanely cheap price. Do I spin? Do I have a substantial amount of fiber laying around my house? No! But I pounced on the deal like a rabid raccoon. Now I am a proud owner of a Fricke drum carder for ONLY $20! It did involve me getting lost in Pontiac and a near death experience involving a falling power line.... but it was completely worth it! The downside? I really want to learn spinning. Now a drop spindle would be fairly inexpensive to dabble with. But nooooo, the idea of learning how to use one of those just seems so completely awkward to me. Like the movement where you pat your head and rub your stomach. But with a wheel my feet and hands would be doing their own thing, right? I can totally master that! Maybe it would be a good channel for my Restless Leg Syndrome?? So yea... I'm sure you can all guess what I have been researching online instead of doing work.
Also, I think I have been hexed in the knitting realm of my world. My last 2 projects I've been trying to work on have run out of yarn. I ran out of DB Cashmerino while I was binding off my Tempting. This is after I ripped it back to make it shorter. I refuse to rip out again. So hopefully some shop around here has that yarn in the dark brown colorway. For the next project, I just wanted to do something simple to drown the sorrow of yarn shortage. So I cast on a felted potholder in leftover Patons. I ran out of yarn. again. Perhaps that is why I'm currently obsessed with the idea of a new craft?

Holy crap, that is a rare deal indeed! And definitely an incentive to get into spinning... but if you ever decide to sell that drum carder, I call first dibs! ;-)
Sorry to hear about your mishaps with the yarn shortage. Personally that has never happened to me, because I always seem to be 2-3 more skeins than I really need because I am so fearful that I will run out. Then I am too lazy to return the left over, so I have a growing stash of left over yarn. Hopefully one day I will think of something wonderful to make with it.
